Elizabeth Ann Wilson Primer passed away peacefully on December 18, 2017. Visitation is from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 30 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, followed by a private memorial.
Ann was born in Fort Worth, Texas on July 16th, 1934. Shirley Temple was a box-office darling, Franklin D. Rosevelt was President, and WWII was only five short years away.
Born to the late Giles Vinson and Mildred Harper Wilson, Ann loved to tag along with her dad to Joe T. Garcia’s famous Mexican restaurant to receive bags of praline candy from staff who appreciated the help of a gifted electrician.
First in her immediate family to go to college, she earned a B. A. in geology from the University of Texas in 1956, one of only seven women in their class. She was a member of Delta Gamma, where she made beloved life-long friends, particularly Gail Toler. She married Charles Austin Primer in 1956 while he was still in medical school. In 1966, they settled in Tyler, where he practiced Ob-Gyn for over 30 years.
She loved Tyler, diligently serving the community in countless ways, including through American Cancer Society, Camp Fire Girls, United Fund, Rose Festival, and Discovery Science Place. They loved traveling internationally, especially representing Tyler with Sister Cities.
The Smith County Medical Alliance combined her love for books in their annual Book Fair and her love of education in the nursing scholarships awarded each year. In SCMA, she found rich fellowship with like-minded, caring women and men.
In recent years, she devoted herself to Bethesda Alliance as well, finding joy in joining the loving women of that organization to work for the well-being of Bethesda’s patients. Their mission appealed to her compassion for those who need medical care and her love of careful stewardship of resources. She gratefully belonged to Al-Anon for over thirty years.
She was also grateful for the love and affection of her friends at Galilee Baptist Church. She left earth peacefully in her sleep under the kind attention of Hospice of East Texas. Due to her quiet faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior, her family joyfully anticipates a reunion in heaven.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, her parents, and her brother Charles Ernest Wilson. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Cathy and David Krafve, daughter and son-in-law Charla and Burke Autrey, son and daughter-in-law Charles and Emily Primer. Her grandchildren include, Anna Krafve Pierce, Ellen Krafve Trant, William Krafve, Allison Autrey Jones, Madeline Autrey, Hank Autrey, Georgia Autrey, Payton Primer, and Nadia Primer. She felt blessed to enjoy seven great grandchildren. She loved her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Ronnie Reynolds and her nephew Bo Reynolds and niece Michelle Reynolds, enjoying spending time with their families. She also loved her nieces and nephews on the Primer side of the family, including Ben, John, Don, Pegi, Leslie and their families.
The family extends a special thanks to her doctors Gene Earl, Preston Harrison, Grace English, Jeff Carr, Stephen Pamatmat, Michael Lewis, Moinuddin Shaikh and all her friends in the Smith County Medial Society.
