Would I have enough blogs to prove we’re serious about changing the culture one conversation, one family, at a time? You bet! Culture & Family are regular themes on Fireside Talk Radio, as it turns out. Phew!
Family & Culture
Family and culture are closely related. I believe family is where we start cultural change. In fact, all the rage and hate floating around in American culture seems to find its source in a break down of family and church.
If you grew up in a family with healthy culture, you know exactly what I mean!
But, like so many, if you grew up knowing something was missing at home, you’re not alone. There’s plenty of hope (and grace) for us all!
Among my friends from all walks of life, faith is the common denominator. Faith separates those who rise up to overcome in life’s most difficult circumstances. Folks who seem to tank, often refuse to consider God’s goodness in their life.
Fortunately, God keeps seeking us out even when we feel like rejecting Him! No matter how mad we get at God, He stays faithful. His love is unfailing even when we fail!

Number One FTR Blog on Culture and Family
#1 Searching Out the Glory in Each Other: Cherishing Your Marriage with Jack Sharpe, 630,160
My conversation with Jack was one of my favorite interviews ever. Pretty amazing stuff he shares about husbands respecting their wife and God’s perspective on what we gals brings to a marriage.
Of course, It didn’t surprise me a bit that marriage is a hot topic. Or that Scott Kedersha’s and Susan Cox’s interviews are so popular. Both leaders spoke with so much humility and authenticity in both. So encouraging! Clearly, I bet you’ll love them as much as we did.
With lots of love, here’s a big shout out to my sister for connecting me to Scott and also Susan, both leaders through Watermark Church in Dallas. Now, Scott pastors in Waco, Texas at Harris Creek Baptist Church, if you happen to be in the neighborhood on a Sunday morning.

God Willing
One thing I know, God is willing to do a whole heck of a lot more than we think to ask of Him. Fireside Talk Radio is just one small example. Imagine a little old lady from Texas meeting so many experts! Yep, small miracles happen every day!
I can’t help but wonder what God would have done if I had just asked sooner.
Whatever is on your heart, why not ask God for His blessing on you, your family, and on our culture? I add my prayer to yours for His blessing on YOU, dear one!
Go Ahead and Ask
One thing I have learned for sure, God wants to give us wisdom! And I love the way Luke describes the process of our good heavenly Father giving better gifts than silly ole humans:
“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” ~Luke 11:9
What could be better than having God’s Spirit as a friend and companion in this life? He is the source of all wisdom, so that’s one powerful promise!
Thank you, as always, for being our companion in this process of sharing great, uplifting, healthy conversations with our culture. If one of these episodes speaks to YOU, please pass it on!
🙂
Cathy
We LOVE to hear from YOU!
Which threats to our families and culture do you see as most urgent? When has God used an expert to calm your fear and restore your faith? What key change have you made in your family culture?
May we pray together?
Dear good Father, we praise You! We need families restored and healthy. You alone are a perfect parent, the rest of us, well, we try. We need Your Spirit to fill us with Your wisdom and strength. Give us grace to love each other well. Thank you for each expert who gave us such authentic, personal wisdom from their own experience. Teach us how to engage in a culture hurting with pain and rage. Help us love like Jesus loves; unfailingly. Bless us now because that is Your heart’s desire. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Hi Cathy,
This is such a timely blog. I attended a Legacy Summit conference simulcast this week. Some of the greatest concerns among grandparents are the cultural impacts we are observing in grandchildren. As Christians, we cannot ignore the devastating effect it is having younger generations, nor can we fail to speak up.
Barb, thank you for taking time to comment! Like you, I am seriously concerned about the direction of our culture for our grandkids’ sakes. One reason I always look for what you’re writing and putting out there! I am honored to hear from you, friend! ❤️
