Today, as my gift to you, I’m sharing an amazing video taken at the Cathedral in Santa Fe. I hope you love it as much as I do! God is creative Himself and He made us to be creative as well. What will you do this year to foster your inner creative?

Designed to Create

With 2019 dawning, it’s a great time to tap into the creativity God intends for you to enjoy! Creativity is not just writing or drawing or painting or carving; keep reading for some practical examples of the unexpected ways creativity is expressed in all of us!

I totally love the bells ringing so joyously! The Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi in Santa Fe, New Mexico celebrates local artists by inviting them to present their art at the alter for God’s blessing.

But, I’m Not Creative!

I hear folks say all the time, “I’m just not creative!” Yet, nothing could be further from the truth.

We are all made in God the Creator’s image. Designed to express your creativity in your own unique way, God intends your creativity to be a kind of worship.

Uniquely Creative

Do you manage numbers and accounting with delight? Is your mind totally engaged when a youngster tells you a story? Are you so busy in the kitchen, you seldom have time for tasks typically labeled creative, like writing or drawing? Your creativity reflects His multifaceted beauty and is meant to give Him glory, that is, to call attention to His love and goodness. Maybe, you’re like my friend David Stiles who used his creativity to share good news with all his neighbors. Whatever your gifts, they’re designed by a God who loves you and wants you to use them creatively to let others know they are loved, too.

God is Creative

Remember God created man on the sixth day (Genesis 1). Smack dab in all His creating the Bible tells us:

“So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”

Of course, God is the original Creator. We create because He designed us to be like Him in our creating, each in our own unique way. In all our creativity, we are most joyful when our life honors Him, the original Creator.

Time for a Little Rest and Recreation

We also see in Genesis 2, when God was done creating man, He rested. I don’t know about you, but after all the Christmas festivities, I’m ready for a little rest. I guess there’s a good reason why the word recreation has the word “creation” in it! We all need a moment to rest and recreate now and then!

I hope you, too, enjoyed a peaceful moment during the holidays. This coming year, may you draw closer to the One who loves You in creative ways beyond our imagination!

May I pray for you?

Dear Father in heaven, You are the One who created us. You know us. Also, You have plans for each one of us. Thank You for the unique design You gave each of us. This year, help us enthusiastically tap into the creativity You put in our souls. Give us strength to push through when creating takes more energy than we have. Allow us to create in ways that honor You, reflecting Your glory and love. Thank You for the joy of creating! In Jesus’s name we pray. Amen.

We love to hear from you!

Can you share some tips on having creative conversational adventures? How does your creativity find expression? When you hear folks say they’re not creative, how do you encourage them?
