Chillin’ over the holidays with one of my beautiful grands–proof of God’s love and forgiveness

Life last year was pretty crazy! Just when we think it can’t get any crazier, we see folks storming the Capitol! This coming year, what will LIFE be like?

We hope you’ll help us reach others with good news. Sign up for our FREE weekly blogs, interviews, and podcasts to share with your friends. Seriously, we’re convinced the only hope for our culture is the forgiveness, justice, and mercy Jesus exemplifies.

One thing’s for sure, forgiveness will make it better, no matter what 2021 holds. Let’s start with self-forgiveness because it fans out to bless everyone around you.

A Life Permeated with Self-Forgiveness

I know a lot about self-forgiveness. More than I want to. Why? Because over 40 years ago, I aborted my first child. It took a while for me to believe Jesus’s blood could cover a sin so contrary to a mother’s nature.

I don’t use the word sin lightly. In fact, I rarely use the word sin at all. Mainly because we have such a skewed definition of it in modern times. (If you’re brave and want me to come to talk about our post-modern definition of sin at your church, it’s one of my favorite topics for blowing people’s minds! And setting folks free.)

CARE Executive Director B.J. Garrett interviewed me awhile back and I’ve been saving the video for this month. January is Sanctity of LIFE month. Sanctity of LIFE Sunday is always the third Sunday in January, declared so by President Reagan in 1984.

In this interview we talk a lot about the power in self-forgiveness. (For more media with friends.)

Life, Forgiveness, and Compassion

I want a better life, filled with forgiveness. I bet you do, too. Self-forgiveness taught me to forgive others and grant them compassion.

Seems like our world could use a big dose of compassion right now. Nice thing about compassion–you don’t have to recover from abortion to serve up a heaping helping to all those you love. And maybe some folks that you don’t love a bit, who get on your every last nerve!

B.J.’s Story Epitomizes of Forgiveness

Not everyone who aborts a child does so for selfish reasons. Many men, women, grandparents, and relatives experience abortion trauma because of someone else’s decisions. This is a GREAT month to think about how we can honor life by extending forgiveness and compassion.

B.J. came on Fireside Talk Radio when we first started and shared her story. (You can find her book, too.) I truly hope you’ll listen in because your mind will be blown away by her depth and understanding of recovery. B.J. rocks compassion for others and self-compassion! (Dr. Grace English also shared about being a physician with abortion in her history.)

Thank you for reading, listening, and sharing today! Keep reading for prayers and questions to spark more love and conversation!

We are grateful! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

P.S.

I’m saving the interview I did with Faith and Failures’ Stephen Tilmon for next week. I hope you love it as much as I do. That guy asks all the right questions. I ended up sharing a lot more than I intended to.

May we pray together?

Father in heaven, there are little ones with You that we will have to wait to heaven to meet. Thank You for being a God who prepared forgiveness for us out of Your own creative, sacrificial nature. We LOVE YOU and praise You! You are the God of heaven and earth, the Righteous One, O merciful and forgiving God. Teach us to forgive ourselves based on the loving, powerful, and perfect sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Help us offer forgiveness to others. In His name, we pray. Amen.

We LOVE to hear from YOU!

How has forgiveness transformed your life? When have you offered sacrifice at great cost to yourself? What in your past needs a dose of forgiveness, self-compassion, and recovery?
