Mom and Dad and A Love Story_Marriage Conversations

Do you have what it takes to create a death-defying love story? If you were dying, could your love keep you alive? That’s exactly what we think happened in our family. Last week when it was freezing, I took a minute to create something special for you. It’s me reading a tribute to one of my favorite love stories ever. The love story my parents created over 50+ years. This is personal.

The Rest of the Story

Before she died, Mom approved the stories I share in my latest book, Marriage Conversation: from coexisting to cherished. Courageously, my own hubby put his stamp of approval on our personal stories, too, for this book. I originally wrote it for our kids. I hope you love this first story as much as we do!

Marriage Conversations: From Coexisting to Cherished. Our latest book. Packed with good stuff!

Creating the Love Story You Always Wanted

Mom and I wanted the generation behind me in our family to get the info they need to create their own love stories. (Find more ways grandparents can influence the next generations for good!)

I packed this book with practical ideas. The kind of stuff your own grandmother would share, if your grandmother was the kind of amazing mom who raised me.

We hope you love our family stories as much as we do. I hope the stuff I learned the hard way helps you avoid my mistakes.

You are Our People

YOU are our reason for going public with our personal stories. David and I thought it was just us for a long time. But we finally figured out when others said, “Marriage is hard,” they were understating the challenge. We finally realized creating a terrific marriage was a series of daily decisions we all face. We weren’t alone in the struggle (Thank God!), but it sure felt like isolation for many years.

So now we create all these wonderful conversations with experts–the interviews, the blogs, the podcasts–with other families in mind. We are in this together!

What is working at your house? Maybe like us, you live for a chance to share victories. Thank you for the emails we get each week. We are grateful for YOU! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

May we pray together?

Dear good heavenly Father, marriage is harder than we expected. We go into it with stars in our eyes but soon discover. To be the stars of our own love story takes true grit. Give us courage, O Lord! Thank You for being the One who loves us with unfailing love. In the present, You offer Your love tenderly to us. You’re the One who loves us beyond death into eternity. If we would but let You! Teach us to love others the same way, with our hearts focused on eternity. You alone love like that. We praise You! Help us be more like You today. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit, O good One, the lover of our souls. Bless us now because that is Your heart’s desire. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

We LOVE to hear from YOU!

When has your marriage withstood a crisis and how did you do it? How did your moment of crisis strengthen your marriage? If you had it to do over, what would you change?
