Beloved praying friends! I have great news! We are overjoyed to collaborate with Elk Lake Publishing to publish our first Camp Krafve Field Guide to Meaningful Conversation!!

Elk Lake to Publish Camp Krafve Book!
Family and Friends showed up to celebrate The Well: The Art of Drawing Out Authentic Conversations

The Well: The Art of Drawing Out Authentic Conversations analyzes over 40 strategies that can change the way we communicate! I’m so excited to get The Well into the hands of those I love! That’s YOU, dear praying friends!! (For more on how ONE person can impact a whole community, click here.)

Here’s the Thank You Video we took to let the world know how grateful we are to collaborate with Elk Lake Publishing!!

Elk Lake Publishing

Our family is very happy to collaborate with Elk Lake’s family, a friendly place where ideas and help are shared freely. Here’s a quote from Publisher and Owner Deb Haggerty to give you an idea of what I mean.

“Elk Lake is a community—a family. In fact, we have our second Elk Lake Family Reunion scheduled for November 2020,” writes Deb. “We all support each other as we can with tips, reviews, and prayers. I recognize no closed doors and answer my own phone. Authors, agents, and staff can contact me by text or email….”

If you don’t yet have an agent, they’ll help you with that, too. (Special shout out to my agent, the amazing Karen Neumair at Credo.)

I’m Not a Writer, I’m a Rewriter!

“I’m not a very good writer, but I’m an excellent rewriter.” ~James A. Michener

Already Sue Fairchild is working my manuscript over, making me dig deeper still for the perfect–and concise–ideas in the book. She encouraged me to add even more stories. No wonder I love Sue!

With Sue’s help the book is brimming with tips to open life-changing conversations. (Thank you to Sandra Beck and Christi McGuire who edited through all my pages early in the process. We wouldn’t be here without you, dear ladies!)

Book Cover Design

I’m especially excited to be working with Derinda Babcock on the cover design! Especially since she felt cut out of a past projects as a rookie author, Derinda gets my angst about how the book will look.

“I was never allowed to communicate with my designer in the past about any part of the process so, as an author, I appreciate Deb letting us do this,” writes Derinda. “From my perspective, I enjoy working with Deb, the other editors, the authors, and the illustrators as a team.”

I can’t imagine being shut out of the creative process when it comes to our cover design! Phew! I landed in the right spot.

Elk Lake’s Mission Statement

Known for publishing the positive, Elk Lake’s mission statement reads: “We exist to captivate our readers and carry them to places of escape, encouragement, education, and entertainment—to broaden their horizons and urge them to new heights. More than anything else, we want to point people to Jesus Christ.”

A Special Shout Out

Acquisitions Editor Susan Stewart connected me in order to collaborate with Elk Lake. If you homeschool, write, or aspire to write, or just want a normal family (Is that possible?!), I highly recommend Susan’s website, Practical Inspirations.

None of this would have happened without a bunch of friends, fellow writers, scholars, prayer warriors, and my family. You are awesome! Please join me in thanking God for this amazing collaboration! (For more on entrepreneurship and marketing your book, check out our interview with Mike Sahno.)

Release Date, Prayer requests

Release date is tentatively set for March, providing I get all my homework done. Soon, I’ll invite you preorder books, if I can figure out how that works. (If you love books, bookstores, or Fort Worth, don’t miss our first Delight*Full Bookstores blog: Delight*Full Bookstores in Fort Worth: My Favorite Cozy Bookstores.)

Also, I plan to ramp up my speaking and travel schedule this spring, so watch for more here. Please keep me in mind if you need a speaker. Also, pLeASe pray for me as I jump through a zillion new hoops.

Pray readers will see the real need we are trying to meet: better community through better communication. Please pray I’ll live up to the great input I’m getting from Elk Lake professionals and make ‘em proud.

Once the book comes out, pray readers will be proud to share it with friends. Our family prays many lives will be changed. That many will understand the deep compassion Jesus calls us to extend to others via conversation.

May I pray for you?

Dear Father, none of us deserve to be blessed by you and yet, there you are, blessing us anyway! I am so grateful for your leading and prompting. Also, I am exceedingly thankful for the people you put in my life. Thank you for the friends you use to encourage us, especially when we feel like failure is our middle name. You are strong and wise and kind even when we are not. We praise you because you deserve our praise and adoration. Bless us now with confidence in your goodness. In Jesus’s name. Amen.

We LOVE to hear from YOU!

When have you been encouraged by a collaboration? Has God surprised you by letting you do something you always wanted to do? If you knew God was blessing you now, what would you ask him for today?
