Scripture memory? Marquis Laughlin presented a big section of Revelation from memory at a recent conference in Tyler, Understanding the Times, Israel, Islam, and the Gospel at the End of the Age. As a communicator myself, I value the added insight we all gain from facial expressions and body language. Because Marquis’s presentation transformed my personal understanding of Revelation, I am eager to share it with my kids and grandkids. And with you, dear friends.

Happily, the above portion is available on his website, Acts of the Word, along with a bunch more. Naturally, I encourage you to check it out and share it with others.

Scripture Memory

Honestly, one thing that happened to me as a result of Marquis’s performance is I came under deep conviction to get back to my scripture memory. Perhaps you know how I feel. If you happen to see me out and about or want to email me, please hold me accountable by asking how it’s going. Man, I hate being accountable, (until the work is done)!

Humility and Accountability

If you happen to know my adorable grandchildren, please ask them if they’re helping me. Obviously, this will be incredibly humbling for me because their agile minds will be better at it than mine! But I’ll be grateful for their help.

In fact, one of my favorite scripture memory partners ever was a child easily 25 year younger than me, back then about 5 years old. Each week, she showed up at her grandmother’s house and put me to shame by flying through our assigned passages!

With humility in mind (and probably a little forthcoming humiliation), I’ve decided to start with Philippians 2:5-11.

Philippians 2:5-11

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

May I pray for you?

Dear Father, You gave us the wisest, dearest message ever known. His name is Jesus, Your own beloved Son. He is the One we seek to know. Teach us the Truth we find in Him. In Jesus’s name we pray. Amen.

We love to hear from you!

What are your best scripture memory tips? (REALLY, I need them!) How has scripture memory helped you at an important moment in your life? In what ways are you helping another generation of your family hide God’s word in their dear hearts?

Thank you for your prayers, dear friends. Please keep praying!

First, Marquis agreed to come on our show. I can’t wait to talk to him on Fireside Talk Radio. Pray our schedules will open up with the perfect date. Please send us any questions you might have for him about scripture memory.

Second, my wonderful agent, Karen Neumair of Credo Communications, is in the final stages of negotiating contracts for us for two books. TWO! This is the next step in our big fat dream and a cause for joy. Yep, and a tad bit of, uh, stress. Seriously, I broke out in shingles when I found out. Shingles! Who does that?!

Finally, please pray for the publishers who are joining us in this process. I can’t wait to share all the details with you here. They are so dedicated and talented, an answer to prayer in every way! Thank You, Lord!
