The Well: The Art of Drawing Out Authentic Conversations CathyKrafve.com
As my first book comes out in a few weeks, I am missing my parents. Missing them makes me even more thankful for YOU! Like me, did your parents teach you to love books and to seek truth?

Here’s what people are saying about The Well, my first book which releases soon! I’m happier than a kid at a campfire about these dear friends who gave endorsements for The Well. Picture crisp Fall weather, a snuggly blanket, a cozy camp chair, s’mores, and Thanksgiving around the corner. That’s how excited I am!

After each endorsement for The Well, I share how God connected our lives. Their hyperlinks make it easy for you to connect with these wonderful leaders, too.  (To get the news as soon as The Well is available, sign up here.)

Josh D. McDowell: “Enhancing All Relationships

“In her book, The Well, The Art of Drawing Out Authentic Conversations, author Cathy Krafve touches on an important point. How do we take conversations to the next level? This book contains some excellent communication ideas to enhance and improve all our relationships.” ~ Josh D. McDowell, Author.

I met Josh McDowell forty years ago and I love to tell the hilarious story. He is always very funny and lively. Then we met again recently. His book, Evidence That Demands a Verdict was a priceless treasure from my early faith years.

Janet Holm McHenry: “For Businesspeople, Educators, Spouses….

“Cathy Krafve has written a significant book on the art of effective communication that will be an important read for businesspeople, educators, spouses, and others. As a professional communicator, I highly recommend The Well, The Art of Drawing Out Authentic Conversations to all who desire to be more effective in their conversations with others.” ~ Janet Holm McHenry, national speaker and author of twenty-four books, including the bestselling PrayerWalk: Becoming a Woman of Prayer, Strength, and Discipline.

Janet and I met at Mount Hermon. I promptly invited her on Fireside Talk Radio. Based on her interview, I’m currently lobbying to help her write a book called Forgive Relentlessly. So far it’s just me begging and her being polite. Don’t miss one of my all-time favorite books, the Complete Guide to The Prayers of Jesus, a book she wrote boldly and beautifully. And, Janet, when you read this please forgive the overuse of adverbs! (Find our interview here.)

Bobby C. Dagnel: “Catalyst to Intimate and Substantive Relationships

“That you are a person of influence is a given. Whether it’s negative or positive is determined in no small part by the effectiveness of your communication skills. In The Well, The Art of Drawing Out Authentic Conversations, Cathy Krafve rightly identifies communication as the catalyst to intimate and substantive relationships.” ~ Bobby C. Dagnel, Senior Pastor, First Baptist Church, Lubbock, Texas.

Bobby and I went to high school together and accepted Christ about the same time. When I consider all that Bobby and Patti have accomplished in a lifetime committed to Jesus, I am blown away. They truly inspire me and make me want to be a better person. Plus, we love a lot of the same folks from home, so that makes me happy, too.

Tammy Whitehurst: “Talk Tough, But Not Like John Wayne

“Cathy can talk tough, not like John Wayne, but in the gentlest, most compassionate way. She has a way of wrapping her words around your heart because she is as transparent as Saran Wrap. The Well explains how to live life the best way possible—through learning the gift of good communication.” ~ Tammy Whitehurst, professional speaker and co-owner of the Christian Communicators Conference.

Thanks to Tammy, I found the nerve to tell one of David’s favorite stories in public. She sat in a hotel room at a Christian Communicator’s Conference and encouraged me through my fear. She’s the first person I call when I need to spice up my speeches. (Find our interview here.)

James Dill: “Never Walk Away Discouraged

“I wish everybody could meet Cathy. She’s vivacious in her words and in her voice. But also, you never walk away discouraged when you talk with Cathy.” ~ Pastor James Dill, founder of Shepherd’s Heart.

I really loved Pastor James’s endorsement because I think it proves what I always suspected—he is encouraged by encouraging others. He’s the guy I call when I feel discouraged, like when I feel God has me doing something too big for me. I am inspired by three generations of his family, especially his partner in life and love, sweet Mrs. Linda. They devote themselves to encouraging Christian leaders. (Find our interview here.)

Charlotte Canion: “That Win-Win Conversation

“Cathy Krafve’s new book The Well is a guide on how to communicate effectively, especially when the conversation is a hard one. Cathy shares learned techniques on how to have that win-win conversation.” ~ Charlotte Canion, award-winning author of You Have to Laugh to Keep from Crying: How to Parent Your Parents.

Charlotte showed up in my life at the perfect moment to reassure me when my mom was living with us. You can find the interview we did here about elder care. She also included me at a National Speakers Association/North Dallas meeting, which opened my eyes to the possibilities and responsibilities of public speaking.

Lori Boruff: “Refreshing Conversation, Insights, Tips, and Techniques

The Well, The Art of Drawing Out Authentic Conversations is like a cup of cold water to wake up our halfhearted conversations. The author offers readers refreshing conversation, insights, tips, and techniques sure to give them greater impact and influence.” ~ Lori Boruff, speaker, writer, and Christian Communicators co-director.

Lori is a perfect example to me of making all your sacred stories available to be used by God. And she is a collector of terrific knowledge, including ideas about coaching, media training, and some of the best stuff I’ve seen on branding. Plus, she has a beautiful heart. Find her interview on Fireside Talk Radio, here.

Frankie Picasso: “Battle-worthy Strategies

“Cathy Krafve is a woman who loves a good quote, Jesus, and her family. Like a good general, Cathy maps out battle-worthy strategies for everyday situations in her latest book The Well, The Art of Drawing Out Authentic Conversation. She tells you all about entrenched defenses and how to deploy a ‘Conversational Adventures,’ without actually starting World War III.” ~ Frankie Picasso, CEO of The Good Radio Network and four-time bestselling author.

When we started Fireside Talk Radio, Frankie was one of my first guests. Why? I knew she could do the interview in her sleep, even if I messed up. She told her story of living an unstoppable life in spite of chronic pain. We share a love for nonprofits, which she constantly highlights on her many shows, including Mission Unstoppable and FrankieSense and More. Introducing me to Frankie was one of countless kindnesses from my friend and social media guru Sandra Beck!

John Trent: “Required Reading

“A key part of my day job is training counselors to help hurting people by ‘drawing out’ what’s at the heart of a conflict—to help them face and actually have those key conversations that can turn into healthy communication. Every once in awhile, a book like The Well comes along that becomes ‘required reading’ to help them do just that. Cathy’s transparency, honesty, biblical wisdom, and pages of helpful, practical tools can help you quit putting off—and actually have—those ‘We need to talk’ conversations. This is a ‘must-read now’ book.” ~ John Trent, Ph.D., President, StrongFamilies.com, author of LifeMapping and co-author of The Blessing.

I met John Trant and his family at PineCove Christian Camps almost thirty years ago. While our kids made crafts, I told John and Cindy I wanted to write a book. They didn’t scoff. They didn’t tell me it would be too hard. Instead, they blessed me, telling me to go for it. They lived The Blessing and proved it works—even if it took a really long time in my case. John also shared a personality test that transformed our family interactions from then on. Through his writing and thinking, John has probably impacted my life and family more than anyone else in our generation, with the exception of the dear friends who led me to the Lord.

God Blesses Me Anyway

I wanted you to know how God works to bring people together for His purpose. He fulfills the dreams and plans He has for us, if we trust Him. I feel really honored to know each of these individuals. I am grateful for their endorsement for The Well. But no way do I feel worthy of their commitment to my writing. God is just bigger than my imagination; that’s all.

A BIG FAT THANK YOU!!!! ❤️❤️

I want to send a huge shout out to Josh D. McDowell, Janet Holm McHenry, Bobby C. Dagnel, Tammy Whitehurst, James Dill, Charlotte Canion, Lori Boruff, Frankie Picasso,  John Trent, today. I am so amazed by your kindness! Your endorsement for The Well means so much to me!!

Devoted Lives and Hearts

So far in our series on devoted lives, we’ve brought you interviews with two amazing authors of devotional books: Brooke Frick, author of Hands Full, and Lindsey Bell author of Unbeaten.

Last week, we added math genius and personal friend Dr. Angie Ruark. (Get it? Added. Okay, I know Angie’s chuckling right now at my dumb math joke.) Angie exemplifies the Spiritual Warrior Woman: Pray attitude. Plus, she’s fun to talk to. So get her book and download our podcasts as the perfect gift for yourself or another spiritual warrior woman.

Next, we’ll hear from DeeDee Lake who has the courage to write a devotion book for teenagers. It’s a giant step toward tender, life-changing conversations with your daughters and granddaughters if you do the devos together (something I highly recommend!)

Plus, check out Abba’s Answers, a devotional book of stories compiled by Deb Butterfield. This anthology includes The Compassion Story, my story of how David responded when I told him about my abortion. Deb is also the author of Carried by Grace, a book I featured when I interviewed about how mom’s can help their daughters gain victory over sexual abuse as a child

Just in case you were wondering, nobody pays me to promote books in any way. I just love to read and share the good ones I find. Sometimes my friends send me their manuscripts and I get to read for free. This is a little like feeding the deer and then wondering why they wander up into your front yard. I’m just saying if you want to get rid of me, don’t give me a book!

Military Moms' Sandra Beck
Dave and I caught up with Sandra in Dallas for lunch and a gabfest.

Don’t Miss the Fun and Fabulous Sandra Beck!

In this very personal interview, Social Media Guru Sandra Beck asks me about my upcoming book, The Well: The Art of Drawing Out Authentic Conversations. As always, Sandra adds hilarious stuff to all conversations. To find more from Sandra, go to Motherhood Talk Radio. For our interview, click here or give me a few of weeks and read about it in an upcoming blog.

Building Better Communication Between Partners Sandra Beck of Motherhood Talk Radio speaks with Cathy Krafve about her new book which highlights how couples can better communicate their needs- especially in these trying times that strain even the best of relationships.
